LBI TAKES FIRST PLACE

LBI EYEWEAR Manufacturing, Incorporated, of Shenzhen, (China), a wholly owned subsidiary of the LBI GROUP headquartered in Chatsworth, California (USA) has taken First Place at this year's annual eyewear design competition conducted by the Hong Kong Trade and Development Council.   "This is the sixth year the HK TDC has orchestrated this event," reports board representative Tony Chow, "the competition was fierce with over 350 entries."   LBI's award winning design is a forward looking wrap-around with anatomical temples that artfully flex for stylish comfort.

Chris So led a design team of six people in conceptualizing LBI's entry this year.   Chris joined LBI in 1997.   "We are tremendously proud of the design team Chris assembled and for his personal achievement on behalf of LBI" announced Denny Yu, Managing Director of LBI CHINA.   Yu oversees an LBI factory of over 2,000 trained workers and a Hong Kong staff of 45.  Winning first place will be something each LBI team member around the world will be proud of." 

There was much to celebrate at LBI headquarters in Chatsworth, California (a suburb of Los Angeles).    LBI began in 1949.  Company founder Sheldon H. "Shelly" Lehrer shared the news with LBI President Keith Lehrer, Keith's brother Chett and V.P. of Operations Robert Perry.    "LBI is the only American owned frame factory operating in the People's Republic of China," Chett Lehrer stated.  "The award recognizes that my father first went to China as a pioneer in 1975," Keith Lehrer adds.   Construction of LBI CHINA began in 1998 and the frame factory has grown to become the most clean, modern factory, equipped with the latest manufacturing equipment from Europe.   Combining sophisticated technology with meticulous attention to detail has vaulted LBI to a vanguard position in the optical frame manufacturing industry.
